July 10, 2009 - Help me here please.  Go through the web site and let me know if everything is working.  Let me know what's not working so I can fix it.  Thanks.

July 9, 2008 - I'm back! This web site has been up and running for more than seven years but has been absent recently.  See below for the whole story.  Anyway, what I want to say is that nobody told me the web site was down, even though I saw comments elsewhere on the Internet about it not being available.  Here's a hint for the future: Email me or call me if the site is down.  That way I can fix it.

There hasn't been much activity here.  It's not all my fault.  Remember you are many, I am but one.  I need you to supply me with information to update this site.  Hey, June just passed.  I'm sure there are Graduates to congratulate.  Send the information on, I'll be happy post it.  What else do you want to see here?  You tell me, this site is for you Flatleys.

July 9, 2008 - I'm back!  I've been really busy with things other than this web site.  More importantly, my Web Hosting service went belly up.  I should have known it would happen.  They went from 24/7 support to only weekdays, then only to 9-5 Eastern time.  They could never get the billing right, I had to call just to have them accept my payment.  Then Support was outsourced.  I would call and speak to somebody called Mike or Bill.   I know their names weren't Mike and weren't Bill and probably was more like Rajesh.  No offence, Bill and Mike are  probably intelligent and capable guys, but if Mike or Bill can't understand me and I can't understand them the hope of solving a technical problem slips away.  I had to call in March just to have them accept my payment.  They never told me they were shutting down, they happily accepted my payment for service a year in advance.  Since they were gone I had problems transferring the domain name to another web hosting service, then there was problems updating name servers, and blah, blah.  You probably don't need the details. But I'm back.

July 12, 2008 - I've recently had an email from Mary Flatley, Uncle Ritchie's  daughter.  Major Flatley, of the USMC is currently stationed in Iraq.  With her permission I'd like to share her letter with you.  We mostly hear and see about Iraq from network and cable news.  This is an observation from someone who's feet is in the sand. I think you might enjoy reading Mary's Letter from Iraq.

July 5, 2008 - I'd like to congratulate cousin Doris Flatley (daughter of James Flatley and Lillian McMahon, niece of David and Anna Flatley, granddaughter of David and Winifred Flatley) for her 25 years of service at Hillsborough Fire Co.#2.  Read more at http://www.packetonline.com/articles/2008/07/03/hillsborough_beacon/news/doc486ce87586cd9233646784.txt

July 1, 2008 - There are some new graduates on our Graduates page.

June 28, 2008 - I'm happy to announce that as of May 1, 2008, Mary Flatley, currently serving in Iraq, has been promoted to Major in the United States Marine Corps.  Not only that, her brother Michael, recently deployed in Bahrain, has been promoted to Master Chief in the United States Navy.  Congratulations and thank you.  You have our deepest respect and gratitude for your service.

May 3, 2008 - I've added a new page to your web site.  I've added a page to honor recent graduates.  Lots of you have people graduating on to other things. This can be from High School, College, Trade School, Military training, or whatever.  Send me a picture and a blurb and I'll get it up here.

December 7, 2007 - I am speaking for my brothers and sisters when I say thank you to all of your prayers and kind words on my Mother's passing.  Thank you again for those who attended the wake and funeral.

June 9, 2007 - A few people responded with a guess about the last picture I posted.

May 30, 2007 - I've added some pictures to the Who's This Page.  Tell me who these people are.

May 13, 2007 - Happy Mother's Day.  I've added some pictures to the Who's This Page.  Tell me who these people are.

May 6, 2007 - I've been contacted by Delia Kreismer and would like you all to welcome her to the Family.  Delia is the sister of Angelina, both daughters  of Barbara Swyberius who is the daughter of Delia Flatley who was the daughter of Martin Flatley, brother of David Flatley, my Grandfather, Poppop.  Delia lives in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Delia has sent me some good information to add to the Family Tree.  Welcome Delia and welcome again Angie.

May 5, 2007 - Happy Mother's day.  My thanks to Pam McKniff for the long lost photo of Nanna that is now posted at http://www.flatleyonline.com/black_and_white_photographs.htm. Pam is the daughter of John and Mary McKniff.  John is the son of John McKniff and Rose Molloy. Rose was Nanna's younger sister. Pam found this photo in the proverbial shoebox in the closet and sent it to me to share with us all.  The original caption on the back of the photo was "To Rose with best love, Annie".

November 19, 2006 - Michael  Flatley,  yes another Mike Flatley, sent me some pictures for Flatleys in Uniform.  Thanks Mike.

October 4, 2006 -   I had to go to Atlanta Georgia recently on business.  The reason for the trip was less than pleasant but since I had to go at all I took advantage of the situation and was happy to meet with Family in Georgia.  Enjoy my visit at Georgia Flatleys .

September 4, 2006 - Hi all, I've been gone for a while but have been busy.  I've collected some pictures from you and have posted them.  For those of you who sent me pictures thank you.  If you put the pictures on SnapFish I don't get the full resolution picture.  I have to right click and do a save as.  In order to download the full picture I need to pay $0.49 for each picture.  Just send me the picture.  And while I have your attention, when you got your digital camera you also got software that will allow you to change such things a brightness and color balance.  Play with it a little, you'll be surprised at the results.

The Reunion went really well and I didn't get stuck behind a grill for half the day, yeah!  I'm glad you all came and you looked really good in the T-Shirts that  Margi ordered for us.  The food was good but I'm sorry to say that most of you didn't take advantage of the fresh donuts at 9:00 o'clock.  They fried them right in front of you and you had a choice of plain or cinnamon sugared.  I had them both, they were great.  I'm telling you, if you missed them you missed a good part of the whole Reunion thing.  From the pictures I can see that some of you went up to the Beer Garden.  I missed that experience twice now, I'm going to have to try that out.

August 18, 2006 - See you tomorrow at the 2006 Family Reunion.  Get there early.  Bring a bathing suit.

August 13, 2006 - There will be an interesting group of people at the 2006 Flatley Family Reunion on Saturday.  My Mom, Aunt Dolly and Uncle Larry will be there.  Doris Flatley Scher will be there.  Oh, I'll be there too.  Since last year I have been in contact with a pretty sizable bunch of Family that I have never met.  For example there is Elaine Evans Wexler.  Elaine's mother was Ruth Flatley. Ruth was the daughter of Grace Lynch Flatley and William (Uncle Bill) Flatley, Poppop's younger brother.  They lived on 50 Burnett St in Newark, walking distance from Second Street in Harrison where I grew up.  Elaine also lived on Cross Street in Harrison, a block or two from Second Street and even across the street from the Chicken Delight on Kearny Avenue.  I lived across the alley from Chicken Delight once.  Elaine now lives in Stanhope, New Jersey  which is right across Lake Hopatcong from me.  We always lived near each other but we have never met (or at least can't remember meeting).  Kevin and Mary Flatley, son and daughter of Robert Flatley whose father was also Uncle Bill will be there too.  Mary and Kevin grew up down the street from Elaine on Burnett.  Elaine, her husband Ray, Kevin and his wife Yvonne and Mary and her husband Joe, some of the "Flatley's of Newark" will all be at the Flatley Family Reunion Saturday.

My research into the Family Tree has placed me in contact with many Family members that I've never met, like a lot of McKniff's,  from as far away as southern California and Cape Cod, Massachusetts and even to London England.  Aunt Dolly, Aunt Catherine, Uncle Joe and Uncle Larry would remember the McKniffs.  No, they won't  be at the Reunion but I bet they will be looking to the http://flatleyonline.com web site to find out how it worked out for us.  But I'm still looking for genealogy data from a lot of you so please go to http://www.flatleyonline.com/genealogy_data.htm and fill out the form and submit it to me.  You're great-grandchildren will appreciate it.

August 5, 2006 -  The time is here,  Wednesday I have to guarantee how many people will be at the Flatley Family 2006 Reunion on August 19th.  Since I have inside information I can tell you there will be some more Flatleys there this year.  I have been in touch with the 'Flatleys of Newark', as in descendants of Uncle Bill , Popop's brother. So three cousins I have never met and their wife's or husband's will be there as well.  We have already traded emails and some great stories about the Family.  I'm looking forward to meeting Kevin, Mary and especially Elaine.

Artie Heller (remember Artie and Richie, the twins) will be there and maybe his brothers will be be able to attend. We also have people flying in from Arizona and South Carolina, and people driving all the way from Virginia.

The Family is growing but at the same time we are growing closer, which is my aim, my stated purpose in developing and maintaining this web site.

Please put your check in the mail today and email to tell to me it's coming so that I can list you for the Reunion.

August 4, 2006 - The best information I have on Aunt Catherine's wedding picture is is at http://www.flatleyonline.com/who's_this.htm .  If anyone can fill in information please do.  Where is Kay and Dave?

July 30, 2006 - A big welcome to Maurien Flatley Morris, her husband David and her children Marrisa, Brianna, Colleen, Cassidy and Gregory to FlatleyOnline's web pages.  Maurien is Vincent's daughter, oldest son of Kay and Dave, son of Poppop.  I hope you enjoy these pages and thank you for filling out the form at http://www.flatleyonline.com/genealogy_data.htm .  We now have more than 300 names in the Family Tree database.  If everyone filled out the form there would be a lot more, thanks.

Margi will be ordering Flatley Family Reunion T-Shirts tomorrow.  Order today to assure the best pricing.  After tomorrow tall orders will need to include a shipping price.   Let her know how many shirts and what sizes you want.  See details in your email.  If you are not on the mailing list or do not have the information contact me directly.  It's going to be great to see us all in these Kelly Green shirts on August 19th at Tomahawk Lake.  That brings up another point, did you send in you check for the Family Reunion yet?  Time is getting short and I need a number to let the Lake Tomahawk people make the preparations.

July 24, 2006 - Would you like to order a Flatley Family 2006 Reunion T-Shirt?

Margi Sanderson, my sister Geri's daughter,  thought that Reunion T-Shirts would be a great idea.  Go see the design and additional information here.

July 22, 2006 - Sad news once again, James Joseph Flatley Jr. has passed away.  James was the son of James J. Flatley Sr., and Lillian S. McMahon.  James, born in Newark, New Jersey  in 1926, is the brother of Doris.  James Sr. James Sr. is Poppop’s brother born in Keighley (Leeds, Yorkshire, England) in 1900.

July 11, 2006 -   Thank you Bernadette for sending me copies of Aunt Rosie's documents.  There was some important information there.  Read the Flatleys in Uniform to get a better picture of Uncle Wimpy's life.

July 7, 2006 -   Just Coincidence, well maybe?  You may know that I’ve been hard at work gathering information for a Family Tree, actually a Family History  (please fill out the form so that I can include you).  In genealogy research, information comes from various sources.  You take information from wherever it comes, analyze it, verify it or discard it.  One conspicuously missing set of data is information on Nana’s birth date and the date she died. I now have that information.  Let me tell you how I got that information.

My Mother was here last weekend and she had an envelope full of pictures and laminated newspaper clippings.  One Newark News article dated April 17, 1961, was an announcement of Nana and Poppop’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.  That helped me narrow the missing information down because I knew Poppop passed away in December 1966.  Still I had no dates for her birth or death date.

Tuesday night, July 4th I worked on the scanned images and emailed a couple of them out to the appropriate people.  There was a Newark Evening News Engagement Announcement for Aunt Dolly and Uncle Pat.  I scanned that and sent it off to share with Bernadette.  There was also a photo of Uncle Richie with a handwritten note on the back addressed to “Mam and Daddy”, dated February 16, 1954.  I’m guessing this was enclosed in a letter to home when Uncle Richie was in the service.  I scanned the picture, front and back, and sent them out to Uncle Richie’s children.

Wednesday morning I got an email from Uncle Richie’s daughter Beth.   Beth writes

“Thank you so much for that picture.  My Dad's handwriting sure didn't change much.  My brother Michael looks just like Dad. By the way, did Grandma Flatley die on the 4th of July?  I know that she was either born on Flag Day and died on the 4th or the other way around.”

As I said, I don't have that information so I don’t know the answer to that.  I have never heard this or at least I don’t remember ever hearing it.  But again, it’s more fragments of information that might help me in my research.

The very next email I read is from Bernadette who says

Thank you so much for the engagement announcement!  My mother looks so pretty and young, don't you think?  It is really nice and my family will love it!

The funny thing is that I was in the process of photocopying some real treasures for you when I logged in and saw what you had sent me.  I couldn't sleep and since I have been meaning to get this information to you, I decided to take this quiet time to get it done.  I am mailing you copies of some very interesting documents that I dug up from Aunt Rosie's archives…I have a copy of Nana's birth certificate!  Yesterday was her birthday, the 4th of July, 1891 - Happy Birthday Nana! ... She died on June 14th (Flag Day), 1963, God rest her soul."

Let me tie this together.  I was looking for information that I have been unsuccessful in obtaining.  My Mother hands me some great documents that I share with two cousins 3000 miles apart.  I send Bernadette and Beth information that is not related to my question.  Beth asks me a question for which I have no answer.  Bernadette copies documents to send me at two o'clock in the morning which answers both  Beth's questions and my questions, with birth and death dates.  Bernadette, do you often feel compelled to copy documents in the middle of the night?

Just coincidence?  I'm going to let you each decide for yourself.  But I'm going to say "thank you Nana".

July 4, 2006 -  Happy Fourth of July.  By the way, I'm giving up on wishing happy birthday to people here.  There are too many of you.  If any of you younger people want to set up a program to automate Birthday Wishes I'm willing to help, but at this point I have enough more serious tasks at hand.  But Happy Birthday to the United States of America and all of us, with a special thanks to you in uniform.  God Bless America.

July 1, 2006 -  Thanks to Beth for a great picture from Aunt Catherine's wedding.  You can find it on Who's This?  So, who are they?  Let's start identifying them.  By the way, has anybody found any early pictures as Beth requested.

June 29, 2006 -  Timmy wins the honor of having sent in the first check for the 2006 Flatley Family Reunion.   Wait, check that, Kit actually has the honor, she wrote out and sent the check.  Thanks Kit.

June 28, 2006 -  Beth, Uncle Richie's daughter, writes ,,,

"I wanted to know if anybody has any pictures of Grandpa and Grandma Flatley when they were younger.  They both died before I was born.   The only pictures I have seen of them are in their golden years.  My mom tells me I look a lot like Grandma Flatley, but I don't see that.  I would really like to see a younger version...

Well Beth the stated premise for creating and maintaining this web site is "doing a website to compile memories, trade contacts, pictures and other information" for the Flatley Family.  I do not have any earlier pictures of our grandparents but you just asked all of us who frequent our web site if they have any pictures.  Is that cool?  One email, one question, more than a hundred people will see the request.  I want what you want, those pictures.  Someone will get them to us.  That's my hope.

And Beth, you said you have a picture from Aunt Catherine's wedding!  I so want that.

June 22, 2006 -  The 2006 Flatley Family Reunion will be held at Tomahawk Lake in Sparta New Jersey on August 19th.  This year we all agreed to have the affair catered, it makes a lot of sense and there’s less work for everybody.  Nobody will need to shop for food, no one will be tied to the bar-be-que grill, we won’t all have to cook or create a dish to bring, and we won’t have to lug stuff back and forth.  That leaves more time for the Reunion.  For details see http://www.flatleyonline.com/2006_family_reunion.htm.  Everyone on my email list has been sent details about payment.  If you are not on my list or for other reasons did not get the email contact me and I will send you the information.

June18, 2006 -  In Melrose, Newton, Provincetown and Forge Village Massachusetts,  Dover, Edison, Jersey City, Somerset, Brick, Morristown, Bridgewater, Randolph and Morristown New Jersey,  Detroit Michigan, Chandler and Phoenix Arizona, San Diego California, Friendsville and Marshall's Creek Pennsylvania,  Chesapeake and Reston Virginia (all places that have visited the web site recently) and in the many places where we are that I didn't mention,  today is Father's Day.  How I wish I could sing a few verses of "Paper Doll" with my Dad right now.  Cherish these moments.

June16, 2006 -  You might notice a new navigation button on the right "Flatleys in Uniform".  It's a new page, it's my way of thanking all of the brave people in uniform who have won and are safeguarding our liberty.  If you have a picture of a love one in uniform that you think belongs on that page you are probably correct.  So send me the picture and we'll get it there.

It's on, the Flatley Family Reunion of 2006 will be at Lake Tomahawk on August 19, 2006.  It will be catered.  We had more than 100 people last year.  I wouldn't be surprised to find out that we will have a much larger turnout this year.  Go here for details.  I will be in touch by email shortly about payment of the fees.

May 31, 2006 -  Sorry for being gone for a while.  Life has been getting in the way of updating the web site.  I have some pictures of 'Flatleys' in uniform.  I have tried to get more but people are apparently reluctant to give them to me.  I wanted to put up a new page around Memorial Day.  Veterans Day would be more appropriate, but mostly I want to honor those of you who have or are doing service for our Nation and for us.  I'll ask again.  If anyone has pictures of themselves or their Mom, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, niece, cousin, sister, brother, in Uniform, I would like to make a page on this web site to honor them.

I did start the web page with the pictures I have but had a stumbling block.  What should I call the page? What would you like to call it?

May 19, 2006 -  Charge two sets of batteries, bring the DC adapter charger, make sure there is plenty of room on the for pictures on the SD card, then leave the camera in the car.  Yep, that's what I did.  Last Saturday there was a beautiful Memorial Mass in Holy Cross Church in Harrison arranged by Aunt Dolly, followed by a great lunch at the Argyle in Kearny, arranged by Patti Ann and Bernadette.  Thank you ladies, beautifully done.  And it was fantastic to have Mary there.   Uncle Richie would have been happy to see us all together.

But let's get back to me not getting any pictures.  What a dope.  Who has pictures?  Please send them.

April 29,  2006 -  It's time to plan for the Flatley Family Reunion of 2006.  Here's the details about the Reunion .  More than a hundred showed up last year and I expect more this year.

April 12,  2006 -  I've added Peter McSorley's email address to the Email Directory.

April 6, 2006 -  Happy Birthday to Kelly Flatley  (Timmy and Kit's daughter).

March 17, 2006 -  Happy Saint Patrick's Day.  If you haven't been here in a while you might find a lot more.  For instance, somehow I missed an email that Eileen sent with 15 new Reunion pictures.  Somehow the pictures that Doris sent and had been posted had disappeared from the web site. Well, let's call these all the Lost Reunion Pictures.  You can find them all with the other Reunion pictures.   Timmy also sent two pictures that I posted in different places.  They shouldn't be hard to find so browse around , you might come across something you missed another time (hint: one is a real old picture).  When you find the pictures tell us who they are.  Also, more people have been identified in the black and white picture at the VFW.  And speaking of pictures,  Mary and Billy (Uncle Richie's daughter and son) want to share some recent pictures.  Look for the link on the Pictures page.

And welcome to Mike Flatley, Uncle Richie and Aunt Ann's son.  You have been added to the email directory.

March 11, 2006 -  Turning to good news, welcome to three of Uncle Richie's children, Billy, Beth and Captain Mary Flatley of the United States Marine Corps.  Their email addresses have been added to the list.  Hope to hear from Michael and Richard as well.  The stated purpose of this whole endeavor is to keep us all together regardless of the miles or years that separate us.  Welcome.

Speaking of the military, did you hear the one about the two military men on their way to Iraq.  One who goes by the name of Richie Heller and the other is called Pete McSorley.  To pass the time they begin to tell each other about their backgrounds.  Pete mentions that his Mother's maiden name was Flatley.  Richie says, no kidding,  my Grandmother's  maiden name was Flatley.  Eileen's son Peter's great Grandfather is none other than Poppop whose sister Anna is Richie's Grandmother.  I haven't seen Richie or his twin brother Artie since the late '60s. Well that is an unusual place and time for cousins to meet for the first time.  Maybe you guys can tell us all about it at the next Flatley Family Reunion

March 2, 2006 -  Unfortunately , news means bad news as well as good news.  If you haven't heard by now, Uncle Richie has passed away.

February 21, 2006 -  This just in from Eileen.

Hello All,
Mike and Denise had a new baby boy this morning Feb 21 at around 12:30 AM. His name is Matthew James, and he weighted 7 lbs. 15 ozs. Mommy and Baby are doing fine.

Great News Eileen.  This would be a great time to go to Genealogy Data and fill out the form with Matthew James' information as well as the rest of the family.

February 18, 2006 -  Time enough for the Christmas Music to rest.  In its stead I have added a number of Irish favorites when you enter the home page.

February 13, 2006 -  Happy Birthday to Kathy Flatley.

February 12, 2006 -  Please help me create a Family Tree document that I can share with you all and pass down to future generations.  I have purchased the software and paid various fees that allow me access to large databases of information and there are tons of free information sources that I am also using.  What I need from you is personal information from your branch of the tree.  So please take a few minutes to fill out the form that can be found at Genealogy Data and I'll get to work grafting your limb to the trunk.  I just love to leaf you laughing.

Oh yeah, I've added some pictures to the Black & White Photo page and one to my Dad's Album.

February 10, 2006 -  The Flatleys of Harrison web site had a bit of a Super Sunday.  We had nearly 50 visitors on February 4th.  When I see numbers like that it convinces me that this web site is a worthwhile effort.  If you haven't yet found the new section Our History, I urge you to click on the button on the left.  There is a short but historically important auto-biography written by my Dad that you should read.

February 5, 2006 -  There is a major change to the website called Our History.  Soon I will ask you to help me provide information for our family tree.

December 24, 2005 -  I have a Christmas gift for you this Christmas Eve.  It  is a ledger sheet from the U.S. Census of 1930.  This particular page is from Franklin Avenue, home of the Flatleys of Harrison at the time.  This is tough to display on a web page.  If you left click on the link your browser will load it.  At this point it is nearly impossible to read.  Instead, right click on the link and select "Save Target As" and save it someplace where you can find it.  It will be saved as Census.jpg.   Now if you click on the file it will load in your image reader, such as Microsoft Photo Editor.  From here you can zoom and pan around in order to read it.  If you can find a printer that can handle 11'x17', print it landscape, full page and allow distortion and you will have a pretty good replica of the original document.  Maybe you boss won't mind in the spirit of Christmas.  Here's the link Census.

December 17, 2005 -  The Flatleys of Harrison had there start in America in Forge Village, Massachusetts.  I was there recently.  I can share my time with you and some moments.  Helena Crocker was nice enough to give me a tour.

December 16, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to my cousin Patti-Ann.

December 2, 2005 -  Doris Flatley Scher asked me if I could get Aunt Dolly's phone number.  I don't have it so I asked Aunt Dolly's daughter Bernadette.  It occurred to me that I've been calling Aunt Dolly just that,  'Aunt Dolly' for half a century.  That can't be her real name, and I don't know her real name.  Bernadette was happy to cure my ignorance.  She writes:

(Dolly) My mother's  real name, is Margaret Ruth.  Everyone outside of the Flatley kin calls her Peggy.  Even my father called her Peggy. My brother Paddy calls her Peggy-Ruth for fun.  So that's the little trivia for today.

OK, so now what I want to know is where the nicknames come from.  Why is my Aunt 'Margaret Ruth' known to me as Dolly, why is my Uncle Joe known as Tucker, why was my Dad known as Tom Brown?  Are there other nicknames we should be aware of?

Aunt Rosie and Aunt Dolly were interested to hear the news about Delia's granddaughter getting in touch with the Flatley's.  They remember Delia well and their aunts and uncles.

November 25, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to Sheri Zarchy.

November 24, 2005 -  Happy Thanksgiving.

November 23, 2005 - Welcome to my newly found cousin, Angelina Mercer, daughter of Barbara Swyberius who is the daughter of Delia Flatley who was the daughter of Martin Flatley, brother of David Flatley.  If I have this straight, Angelina is the great granddaughter of my great Uncle Martin, brother of Poppop (my father's dad David).  Join me in welcoming Angelina to these pages.  Maybe we'll all meet her at the 2006 Flatley Family Reunion in August.  Her email address can be found on the email directory.

November 8, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to my niece Toni Marie.

November 7, 2005 -  From Eileen tonight.

Good News,
Peter is home!!!! Mary Ann picked him up in Westfield tonight, and took him home. I think he may have to report back to finish everything up, but at least he is stateside. Thank you for all your prayers, and thoughts. We appreciate it very much. I guess I'll have to make a trip up in the near future to see him. Thanks again for your prayers.

Eileen

Welcome home Peter, and we all thank you for your service.

September 24, 2005 -  Happy Birthday Timmy.  Thanks for the pictures from the 2005 Reunion and for contacting people before hand, and thanks for the encouragement in keeping FlatleyOnline what it is.

September 17, 2005 -  I apologize for the delay.  I had business and health problems to deal with which delayed the posting of photographs taken at the 2005 Reunion.  They are available now.

September 11, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to my sister Jackie.

August 28, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to my son David.  Glad you made it to the 2005 FFR.

August 24, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to my brother Jimmy.

August 20, 2005 -  This was the date of the Flatley Family Reunion.  For those who missed it I am sorry.  There were doubters who thought we couldn't arrange this event in such a short time period.  Well, we did, didn't we?

August 12, 2005 -  Happy Birthday to my daughter Catie.

August 5, 2005 -  I found a my Dad's personal photo album.  He had left it with me with things like his Service Decorations for safe keeping.  There are more Flatleys here than you can shake a stick at in this album.  See the pictures section.

August 2, 2005 - Happy Birthday to my cousin Judie.  Thanks for baby sitting me a half century ago.

July 30, 2005 - Happy Birthday to my sister Geri.

July 26, 2005 - Oh, Happy Birthday to my poor old tired self.

July 13, 2005 - Well Steven Flatley won't  be able to make it to the reunion but he sent us a picture.  Thanks Steve.

July 9, 2005 - If there is a Family Reunion this year it will be on Saturday, August 20.  That date is based on your responses.  More details will follow soon.

June 22,  2005 - Happy Birthday to my cousin Eileen.  Thanks for you help with sending out emails.

And welcome to Mark Flatley, the oldest son of Dave Flatley, and the Grandson of David Flatley and Catherine Lyttle.

June 21,  2005 - Happy Birthday to my brother Kevin, and Kevin, thanks for taking care of Mom.  You are appreciated.

June 14, 2005 -  Welcome to Tonimarie.  Tonimarie is my niece and I believe the United States Navy is in good hands with personnel like Toni.  I salute you.

I also welcome Doris Flatley Scher  of the Flatley's of Roseville.  Doris, your main claim to fame at this time is kicking me in the butt for letting this site go out of date.  The web site is up and running, thank you.  I do fully expect you and yours to be at any family reunion.

Speaking about the Family Reunion, I haven't seen much email response.  If you know of any email addresses that should get the word please forward the information.

June 10, 2005 -  For those of us from Harrison, or greater New Jersey, I have a question.  Can you believe that WCBS FM 101.1 no longer exists?  What is going on?  Is this a terrorist act or something?  How can you fire Cousin Bruce Morrow, Harry Harrison, Bobby Jay and Mickey Dolenz?  How can you replace the Duprees and the Supremes with Duran Duran and the Beastie Boys?  It's insanity.

For now, you can go to http://www.wcbsfm.com to bring the music back but not the DJs.  You can stream the "Broadcast" to your PC.  It wouldn't be too difficult to send the signal to your stereo receiver.  If anyone wants some information on how to do that let me know.

June 9, 2005 -  I was able to reconstruct my old address book from my crashed hard drive.  NOTE: Don't save anything on a hard drive that you want to hide.  Yes I may be a professional but with some determination it is that difficult to do.  Imagine what someone who specializes in data recovery can do!

But I got a decent mailing list and have mailed out a "feeler" for who may be interested in a family reunion.  Nothing definite,  just a question about who is interested.  I would need a minimum of 50 people to get things going.

June 5, 2005 -  We are back in action.  I have lost many email addresses.  Send me an email and let me know if you have others that should be added to our mailing list.

Timmy emailed my a picture of his brother Mike and his nephew taken down in good old Harrison.  See it by going to Pictures then Timmy's pictures.

Also, Happy Birthday to Margi Sanderson!

July 05, 2003 - Kelly Flatley, daughter of Kit and Tim Flatley, graduated magna cum laude from New York University in May of 2003 with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication.   Magna cum laude from NYU!  WOW!  Timmy and Kit Let me know when your feet touch the ground again.  I know I'd be floating on air for quite some time.  God bless her.  Way to go Kelly.

June 19, 2003 - Eileen's son Vincent is getting married to Kendra Gruber on May 25, 2003
in New Hope, PA. They will be living in Hillsborough, NJ.  And, oh bye the way, we have a picture from Eileen's son Michael's wedding back in August of late year.  A little late, but a classic nonetheless.

December 25, 2002 - The world is indeed getting smaller everyday.  Shirley Kelly Contreras of Arroyo Grande, California happened by our website when she was searching on the subject of Forge Village Massachusetts.  She signed the Guest book and mentioned she was born there.  I emailed her to thank her and asked if she knew any Flatleys.  A few hours later she responded.  She didn't know any Flatley's herself but she contacted "Aunt Mickey" a friend of her family.  Aunt Mickey's response was "Do I know any Flatley's?"  Then she listed...well click here to read the rest.

December 25, 2002 - Peace on Earth to men of good will.  Merry Christmas to you all.

December 1, 2002 - I posted a billion (well more than 30) pictures from the  Flatley Family Reunion of July 31, 1994.  Were you there?

November 15, 2002 - Happy Birthday to my wife Marjorie Gammons Flatley.

November 9, 2002 - Congratulations to my sister Geri and her husband Joseph who renewed their wedding vows and had their marriage sanctified by the Church.

October 20, 2002 - Many thanks to Timmy and his daughter Colleen for some Pictures to add to the site.  You know where to find them.

October 14, 2002 - Congratulations to my brother Jimmy and his lovely wife Tina on the birth of the newest Flatley, Emily.

October 11, 2002 - I've done away with with the WHERE ARE THEY NOW page because it's been there for six months and I have yet to receive one BIO to put in there.  Ok, I get it.  You don't want it, it's gone.

October 11, 2002 - I've heard that some features on the website do not behave properly when using Netscape Navigator.  I've downloaded Netscape 7.0 so I can do testing.  I've added code and made corrections to accommodate Netscapers.  I've tested and we are 99% compatible (you won't see the pop up IDs on the first two pictures on the Pictures page as I state on that page).  Can't help it, that's Netscape.  But the music should play and all pictures should display properly.  If any AOL users are having problems let me know what they are.  Speaking of pictures,  I know you all have some, let's get them up here.

October 4, 2002 - Congratulations to my nephew Chris Sanderson and Marsha Kulig on their wedding.  And thanks Marsha and Chris for proving that adults can get together, celebrate a joyous occasion without the Chicken Dance, the Macarena, the Bunny-Hop, YMCA and my least favorite of all, the Hokey-freakin'-Pokey.   I took some pictures.  Go see them  here.

September 25, 2002 - Happy Birthday to Michael Flatley, no not the Lord of the Dance guy, not my godfather (Uncle Mike), and not to several of my cousins, but my son Mike.  Hey Mike, stop chatting and do some studying.

September 24, 2002 - Happy Birthday Timmy.  Thanks for the pictures, we'll get them scanned and  posted soon.

September 19, 2002 - Chris Sanderson (my sister Geri's son) and Marsha Kulig are being married on October 4, 2002.

September 19, 2002 -  Also, Sheila McLaughlin (my sister's second daughter)  and Glenn Parisi are going to be married on April 12, 2003.

September 2, 2002The Song Page is new.  I added a page that will contain a song and the lyrics of a traditional or non-traditional Irish song.  If you have any request let me know, I'll see if I can find it.  Or if you have a song, send it to me.

August 28, 2002 - Happy Birthday to my oldest son David.  David recently was certified as a  Macromedia Certified Professional for passing the Macromedia MX Designer test.  No doubt some of you are aware of Macromedia Flash and what it offers web design in terms of interactive participation and animated graphics.  The MX Designer Certification is a leading edge graphic designer certification and therefore all new.  Dave is the first and only person in the state of New Jersey with this Certification.  Way to go.

August 13, 2002 - A quick update on Michael & Denise's Honeymoon:  Denise surprised Michael at the wedding with a trip to Ireland (cool).  They can get to Mystic Connecticut another time. Actually they were going to Block Island.  Ireland is a better choice but Block Island is nice.

August 12, 2002 - Happy Birthday to my favorite (ok only) daughter Catie who was born at 8:58 in the morning 13 years ago today.

July 31, 2002 - From Uncle Dave's clan:
Mike McSorley, son of Eileen Manalas, is getting married to Denise Taylor of Edison at St. Matthews Church in Edison on August 10, 2002. Denise and Mike will live in Colonia, New Jersey after a honeymoon in Mystic, Conn.

July 30, 2002 - Happy Birthday to my sister Geri Rowan.

July 26, 2002 - Happy birthday to ME!

July 22, 2002 - I just heard today that Egan's is closed, you know on the Belleville Pike and Schuyler Avenue.  No more 2 dogs two and frenchie gravy orders, not to mention those great steak sandwiches. This definitely goes under the heading of bad news.  What next?  Close down the Fish & Chips restaurants?
