I found a my Dad's personal photo album. He had left it with me with things like his Service Decorations for safe keeping. There are more Flatleys here than you can shake a stick at (Webmaster's Note: It is inadvisable to do any shaking of sticks at any particular Flatley). Obviously Dad gave me this album for safe keeping and to share with others and eventually pass down. As I am not quite ready for the passing down part I do find that I can share easily enough. I could just invite you all over which might be fun but it might get awfully crowded. But since I finally broke down and bought a decent scanner I can share here too. The catch is that I'm only going to post a few or one at a time to keep interest peeking. If I have a date and names I'll post them. If not, maybe you can tell me. Dad didn't start the album many years ago so it's not the treasure trove it could be but it is what it is and here goes.
This was a Forge Village reunion in 1989. From the back of the photo I can tell you that these are all people born on Orchid Street. So I know Nana and Pop Pop were living on Orchid Street in Forge Village Massachusetts on this date (8/5) in 1917 when my father was born. These people kept in touch with each other even when they were worlds apart. These people kept contact with each other during and after two World Wars and even up to the fall of the Berlin Wall. They wrote letters to each other. God, how I'd love to get together with the Second Street gang in Harrison.
The handsome one is my Dad, the big guy is Uncle Tucker. This was taken at Andy's home in 1989. Okay, this picture was taken on June 9, 1995. I believe it to be my Dad's High School Reunion from St. Benedict's in Newark. I'm guessing it is the 60th Reunion since Dad would have been 18 in 1935. Dad didn't make this one but these fellows did. Front Row Left to Right - Adrian McManus, Vic Morgan, Father Maynard, Frank Delaney, Charlie Kimler. Back Row Left to Right - Jerry Dean, Frank Cosgrove, Mike Kinney, Frank Brophy, Fred Dunne, Paul Collins, Fred Kull, John Widman, Joe Metzger. Someday a relative of one of these guys will do a Google search on one of these names and find our website. When they do we may make contact and share some information. This one's just for Jackie. |
